Young People at a Crossroads | Research Publication
YPX is an ESRC-funded research project by Catherine Walker from The University of Manchester about how immigrant background young people & their families are responding to climate change in Manchester & Melbourne. The illustrations bring to life the Young researcher’s and their families’ reflections on climate change as well as their cultural experiences across the journeys they’ve taken to & from Manchester and Melbourne & everywhere in between.
The maps show the countries that the families of the 23 young people who took part in the research in Manchester and the 17 young people who took part in Melbourne moved between before arriving in these cities. Maps use the Peters projection map which was produced as a critical response to the more commonly used Mercator projection map that shows Europe and North America as larger than they are.
